Stick toothpicks in the cake with labels for each part of the cell.
Type up the labels on a computer. Cut out each label and attach them to the toothpicks with tape before placing them on the cake next to the applicable cell component. Take pictures of the cake model, and then eat it! Method 4. To make a clay model of a cell, you'll need: A small or medium sized styrofoam ball. Cut the styrofoam ball in half. The size of the ball you use depends on how detailed you want to make the parts. Cover the flat side of the styrofoam ball with clay. It also packages molecules into vesicles and transports them around as well as in and out of the cell. Step 7. Place green jelly beans at random places in the cytoplasm to represent chloroplasts. Ensure to leave spaces for mitochondria, and do not overcrowd the cell. Chloroplasts are the food-making organelles of the plant cell since they are the site for photosynthesis.
Each chloroplast comprises a network of membranes that contain pigments and enzymes essential for harvesting light energy, and converting it into chemical energy.
Step 8. In the spaces left in the cytoplasm, place candy fruit slices preferably yellow-colored to denote the mitochondria. Mitochondria are known as the powerhouses of cells since these organelles are involved in the synthesis of energy in the form of ATP adenosine triphosphate. This membranous structure plays an important role in survival of the cell.
Step 9. Add larger thermocol balls to indicate the peroxisomes. Peroxisomes are spherical organelles which bring about the breakdown of fatty acids. They play a vital role in several metabolic processes of the cell, especially during seed germination. Making a plant cell model is an easy and fun task. We made these plant cell models using jelly jello and different candy sweets. They are very easy to make and look great. We found that some sweets, especially hard boiled or sugar coated ones leaked colour into the jelly after a period of time.
