This cafe serves grolsch and the local IJ beer which is great. Food is good. The Atmosphere is nice and the building formaly used for bathing is a landmark in the SohOost of Amsterdam. This old bath house serves the best food in the neighborhood, much better than Ponteneur. Service can be very slow though.

The converted interior still has the tiles that mark its former purpose, with the addition of an eclectic array of couches, stools and tables to spend long afternoons over a drink, or for a lunch or dinner with friends. The food is pretty good and very well priced. Het Badhuis also offers a high-tea. In summer, the Badhuis' large terrace comes alive, taking over the sunny square outside.

Het Badhuis Javaplein opened its doors in and was one of the last bathhouses in Amsterdam being build. Soo it became one of the central meeting places of the neighbourhood. In the bathhouse closed down. Having had several different purposes after closing as a bathhouse, it nowadays has back its role as central meeting point again. Visitors rank:. This cool area of Amsterdam has increased in popularity big time over the last years. Lots of cool bars and restaurants are opening up and little boutiques pop up as fast and easy as the wind. Drink a beer with the locals, enjoy the multicultural cuisines and be amazed about what this neighborhood has to offer.

The Bath House on Javaplein opened in her doors and was on of the last public baths built in Amsterdam. It quickly became a central meeting place for local residents. Right behind the bar you can still see were previously the shower cubicles for the ladies were.

In the Bath House closed its doors and forever lost its function as a bathhouse. After closing the Bathhouse did function as a Hindu temple and a charity store, before it turned into a horeca location in the early 90s. After many changes of ownership and name, the Bath House now has its old name back, and even its original function as a central meeting place for the locals. Drop by for a nice cup of coffee, high tea, lunch or dinner and spot the old details that still reminds us of the previous function of this place.
